If you want to follow this tear-down/restoration from the start you would need to visit Absolute Pinball on facebook.
I no longer post on that site, all future updates can be found here, under “Blog”.
At this point with Kiss the cabinet has been stripped, sanded, bodywork completed, and it’s ready for re-paint.
The head is being completed first.
Through the series of photos you will see that the stencils do not always peel off smoothly, and fine brush touch-ups are sometimes required.
Once both secondary colors are applied to one side, it is covered, and the other side is done.
Once both sides are complete, the touch-up are done, then the complete head is unwrapped, and receives five layers of acrylic enamel clear coat, to protect the paint finish from dings, and scratches.
The clear also adds a high degree of shine, providing a wet look.
A new playfield will be installed, once the cabinet is done.
The best color match for the red is Chevy Red/Orange.
