To see restoration progression you can look back to previous posts.
The playfield has now been touched up, and cleared with a 2-part automotive hard clear.
If you undertaking such a project remember to fill in your lamp sockets, or they will be non conductive later!.
I find balled up newsprint to work best; I tried using old bulbs years ago, but they need to be removed with 10 minutes of your last pass, and reaching over the playfield for removal during cure time just adds dust particles.
On the “twinstar” rollover inserts you MUST add a inverted twinstar rollover (as pictured) or the clear buildup will cause a issue with fitment, and fuctionality. Yes, you can scrape off excess clear after the fact, but it’s super time consuming, and damage can result. Make sure to remove the inverted star with 10 minutes of final coat.
The playfield rails were sanded and repainted brilliant red, then cleared, to brighten up the playfield.
Likewise, the new 11-piece drop target set was cleared (faces only) to prevent ball hits from wearing off the ink image.
Some before and after photos of the solenoid assemblies rebuild.
Playfield metal was rotary tumble polished for over a week, came out looking new.
Smaller playfield plastics, such as posts were tumble washed for 12-15 hours, twice.
Started on the playfield buildout/repopulation; system testing to follow.
Board upgrades/testing work being done during all of this.
